The Liberian nation team jetted into the country this morning, ahead of Sunday’s opening game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Lone Stars will be aiming to make it to the finals of Africa’s premier continental competition for the first time since 2002.
Liberia coach James Salinsa Debbah said his side respects Zimbabwe, having watched the Warriors perform at this year’s edition of AFCON. However, the former Liberian international added that his team do not fear the Warriors, and that their expectation is to win Sunday’s game.
The Warriors will head into this clash knowing that it is likely a must win game. Zimbabwe and Liberia were both handed a tough draw after being placed in group G, along with Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The game kicks off on Sunday 11 June at 15:00. Make sure to follow @ZiFMSport on Twitter for updates on the match.
