Opposition MDC deputy national chairman, Job Sikhala, who was arrested on Tuesday for subverting a constitutional government, has appeared in court in Bikita, Masvingo province where he has been remanded in custody to July 24.

Sikhala was arrested after a video of him addressing party supporters in Bikita threatening to overthrow President Emerson Mnangagwa’s administration went viral.

According to the state papers, Sikhala uttered the statements threatening to overthrow Mnangagwa and the video of him issuing the threats has since gone viral.

The firebrand Member of Parliament for Zengeza West handed himself over to police on Tuesday and was transferred to Masvingo where he committed the alleged offense.

He is being represented by lawyers, Alec Muchadehama and Jeremiah Bamu.
