…Mnangagwa consoles MDC family after two officials perish in Kwekwe accident

Two  MDC Alliance officials died while the late opposition party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai’s daughter, Vimbai was injured after an accident in Kwekwe on Monday.

The accident occurred while the Glen View Member of Parliament and other party officials were travelling to Harare from Bulawayo on party business.

Police confirmed the accident and the death of  Paul Rukanda and Tafadzwa Mhundwa.

Mhundwa was the brother to the late Susan Tsvangirai.

“The MDC expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Rukanda and Mhundwa families in particular and the MDC family in general, for the sad loss,"  MDC Alliance spokesperson Jacob Mafume said.

Rukanda was the Glenview South district organising secretary, while Mhundwa was the Ward 7 Mt Pleasant vice chairperson.

Tsvangirai Java was hospitalised in Kwekwe before she was transferred to a hospital in Harare.

 

Another MDC Alliance official only identified as Muringani was also injured in the same accident.

Meanwhile, President Emerson Mnangagwa has consoled the MDC Alliance family following the tragedy.

“Very sorry to hear of the tragic car crash that claimed the lives of two committed MDC activists and injured Vimba Tsvangirai. My thoughts are with the loved ones of the deceased and I join the Tsvangirai family and the nation as a whole in praying for Vimbai’s speedy recovery,” Mnangagwa said.
