The Premier Soccer League has officially confirmed that this weekend’s match between CAPS United and Dynamos has been called off.
According to reports, the decision to postpone the match indefinitely came about because the league could not find a venue for the Harare derby. The tie was scheduled for the National Sports stadium, but the grounds were already booked by Nigerian Pastor Chris Oyakhilome for a special service of his Christ Embassy Ministries set for this Sunday.
Rufaro stadium had been mooted as an alternative venue, but it is still undergoing renovations after the authorities decided to do away with the damaged artificial turf and replace it with natural grass. The league has yet to announce when the rescheduled fixture will take place.
The postponement will make life more complicated for CAPS United, who already face a piling fixture list that includes the CAF Champions League group stage, which begins next week with an away tie to Zamalek in Egypt.
