Ronald Koeman has been fired by struggling Premier League side Everton. The club made the announcement after processing Sunday’s humbling 5-2 defeat at home to Arsenal.

The 54-year-old Dutchman was under pressure after he oversaw a £140 million (US $185 million) spending spree during the summer transfer window. Signings like former Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, Dutchman Davy Klaassen and Wayne Rooney had failed to validate their price tags after a number of below par performances.
Koeman joins Frank de Boer, who was sacked by Crystal Palace and Craig Shakespeare, who was fired by Leicester last week, as top level managers to have departed this season.
