Remember the times when you used to look forward to seeing the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Rock on television?

As any casual wrestling fan will tell you, the biggest event in the sport (yes, it’s a sport!) is Wrestlemania. Of course this year’s edition also lived up to expectations, so we got all the results from last night’s event.

Match #1: Fifth Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Matt Hardy won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle royal thanks to an unlikely assist from Bray Wyatt. It was a great opener and the crowd really got into it. Set the mood for a good WrestleMania in New Orleans.

Winner: Matt Hardy

Match #2: Tournament Finals for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title – Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali

The cruiserweight division used to be fun, with the likes of Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero entertaining the audience. Cedric Alexander managed to beat Mustafa Ali to pick up the vacant title, and we can only hope he spearheads the revival of the cruiserweight division.

Winner: Cedric Alexander

Match #3: Inaugural WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal

Women’s wrestling has greatly improved from the “Bra and Panties” matches we used to be subjected to, and the Women’s Battle Royal is a testament to that. Naomi won this one after she hit Bayley with her finishing move to eliminate her for the win.

Winner: Naomi

Match #4: Triple Threat for the WWE Intercontinental Title – Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor vs. The Miz

The names in this match made this must see television. The high flying Finn Balor brought an element of unpredictability while the cocky duo of Seth Rollins and The Miz really know how to work a crowd, although the former is by far the more talented of the two! Luckily for us, Seth Rollins won after hitting the Blackout on The Miz for the win and the title!

Winner: Seth Rollins

Match #5: SmackDown Women’s Title Match – Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair

What a stellar match! As mentioned before, women’s wrestling is definitely on the rise and this match proved it. There were numerous twist and turns in this affair, which kept the crowd engaged throughout. Charlotte got the win after applying the figure four lock to make Asuka tap out.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

Match #6: Fatal 4 Way for the WWE United States Title – Bobby Roode vs. Rusev vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton

This was the first disappointment of the night. Not so much because of the performance of the wrestlers involved, but because of who won. Jinder Mahal got the win after hitting the Khallas on Rusev for the pin and the title.

Winner and New WWE United States Champion: Jinder Mahal

Match #7: Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

Ronda Rousey has seamlessly transitioned from Mixed Martial Arts to the WWE. Her official debut match couldn’t have gone any better as she made Stephanie McMahon tap out after applying an arm bar.

Winners: Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle

Match #8: SmackDown Tag Team Titles – The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Usos

This was a decent match, with all tag teams putting in stellar performances, particularly The Usos. The Bludgeon Brothers walked away as champions after Harper came off the top for a big double team powerbomb on Kofi Kingston for the pin and the win.

Winners and New SmackDown Tag Team Champions: The Bludgeon Brothers

Match #9: John Cena vs. The Undertaker

No one knew if this match would happen, but kudos to the WWE for keeping us on the edge of our seats. The Undertaker made his long awaited comeback by absolutely dominating John Cena for a quick (almost suprising) win.

Winner: The Undertaker

Match #10: Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

It had been almost three years since we last saw Daniel Bryan in the ring. It was good to see him back in action and he didn’t disappoint in his first match after coming out of retirement. He made Sami tap out after applying the Yes Lock to in the middle of the ring.

Winners: Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon

Match #11: RAW Women’s Title Match – Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss

Sometime the best things in life come to those who wait. Nia Jax finally got her hands on the womens title by pinning Alexa following a super Samoan drop from the second rope.

Winner and New RAW Women’s Champion: Nia Jax

Match #12: WWE Title Match – Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles

This was arguably the most anticipated match of WrestleMania. Both Nakamura and Styles are extraordinary technical wrestlers, capable of captivating the crowd with their move sets. They definitely made sure the match lived up to the hype, putting on the show of the night. Styles eventually pinned Nakamura after hitting the Styles Clash in the middle of the ring for the pin.

Winner: AJ Styles

Match #13: RAW Tag Team Title Match – Braun Strowman and a Mystery Partner vs. The Bar

This was a lighthearted affair as Strowman introduced a random kid from the crowd as his surprise partner. The boy (about 10 years old give or take) said his name was Nicholas, and he didn’t wrestle obviously but Strowman did all the work himself as her easily handled the Bar, and picked up the win after pinning Cesaro.

Winners and New RAW Tag Team Champions: Braun Strowman and Nicholas

Match #14: WWE Universal Title Match – Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar

The last match on the card was supposed to be the biggest, but as mentioned before, the superb Nakamura vs Styles match made following it up an almost impossible task. Both men laboured to get the crowd involved and the match suffered as a result. Ultimately Brock Lesnar retained his title, pinning Reigns after hitting him with an F5.

Winner: Brock Lesnar
