A New Day Out Pod Party sets Benchmark for Safe Eventing
South Africa’s first official Pod Party Music Festival took place at Montecasino, Johannesburg over the weekend of 28 and 29 November. A New Day Out, presented by Locally Whipped Productions (LW Mag) in association with Garmin and supersonic, saw fans treated to a host of top-tier artists all while enjoying the entertainment from the comfort of their very own socially-distanced pods.

The unique proof-of-concept event offered a safe environment for a full-scale music festival to take place while still adhering to all COVID-19 regulations and protocols. Each pod offered a VIP style experience with a variety of complimentary products included, as well as a full bar and food order delivery service.

The incredible 168m² x10m high stage and lighting added to the ambience of the production, and Montecasino’s inescapable architecture sketched the perfect backdrop for the performances from Prime Circle, GoodLuck, PHFat, Shortstraw, Veranda Panda and Majozi.

“To see this vision turn into reality just as it was imagined, is incredibly rewarding. The feedback from the artists, the crew and event goers has been extremely positive, and we take pride in being able to play our part in opening up the events industry that has been severely impacted this year,” says Ryan van der Spuy, A New Day Out organiser.
“It was important for us to offer an event that was safe and that gave all those involved and attending, peace of mind. We believe we achieved that and look forward to working on the next event,” concludes van der Spuy.
