All set for the AfCFTA-ACX conference in Victoria Falls

Preparations are in full swing for the highly anticipated AfCFTA Association of Commodity Exchanges (AACX) Annual Conference, set to take place from March 26-27 at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls.

The Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Dr Anxious  Masuka, will be the guest speaker.

“The Zimbabwe Mercantile Exchange (ZMX) is honored to announce that the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Dr. Anxious J. Masuka, will headline the conference as the esteemed guest speaker. His presence underscores  the importance of the event in advancing Africa’s agricultural  and trade agenda as well as Zimbabwe’s commitment to fostering economic growth through commodity exchange platforms,” ZMX said.

This year’s conference, themed “Scaling Intra-African Trade: Leveraging Commodity Exchanges for Economic Resilience and Growth,” will bring together key industry players, policymakers, financial and logistics experts, and international organizations. The event will serve as a crucial platform for networking, business linkages, and strategic collaborations aimed at unlocking Africa’s trade potential.

A high-powered delegation from the AfCFTA, led by Joyce Letswalo, Head of Market Access in the Directorate of Trade in Goods and Competition, will grace the prestigious gathering. Other notable speakers includeTucci Ivowi, CEO of the Ghana Commodity Exchange, Adam Gross, global expert in commodity trade and finance,Tafadzwa Chinamo, CEO of ZIDA, Anelisa Matutu, Head of Commodities in the Capital Markets Division at the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE),Dr. Bharat Kulkarni, commodities and derivatives markets expert and Collen Tapfumaneyi, CEO of ZMX.

With delegates from across the continent already registered, the event is shaping up to be a landmark gathering focused on trade harmonization, investment opportunities, supply chain development, and policy frameworks essential for fostering economic growth through commodity exchange platforms.

As the host country, Zimbabwe is poised to showcase its contributions to Africa’s commodity markets, emphasizing innovative market structures and strategic policies that enhance agricultural and resource-based trade. The conference is expected to further position Zimbabwe as a key player in intra-African commerce and attract investment to its crucial economic sectors.
