Warriors and CAPS United defender Hardlife Zvirwekwi has had his left wrist amputated according to a source at CAPS United.
Zvirekwi was amputated after surviving a car accident which left him severe injuries, early last morning.
According to the source, the club captain is in stable condition as he is recovering and receiving treatment at a local hospital in the capital.
The implication the surgery will have on his playing career remains unclear.
Zvirekwi led Caps United to their first championship since 2005 in 2016.
He also played an instrumental role in his side’s CAF Champions league campaign last season where the club qualified for the lucrative group stages of the competition.
After finishing in fifth place last season largely due to a tight schedule that saw them participating in both the domestic league and the African Champions League, Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe has declared he wants to reclaim the league title this season.
