Early Christmas joy for Chitungwiza’s albinism community

STAFF WRITER

Premier Corporate Gifts brought early Christmas joy to Chitungwiza’s albinism community on Monday after donating groceries and personal care items to the Albino Charity Organisation of Zimbabwe (Alcoz).

In an inspiring move, the company chose to forego its traditional annual Christmas party in favour of making a tangible difference for a marginalised group, highlighting its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Betty Mpala, Managing Director of Premier Corporate Gifts, shared the company’s unique decision to shift focus from self-celebration to community support this year.

“As a company, we believe in spreading love and hope. We made a collective decision  as a team not to hold our usual Christmas party for ourselves and our stakeholders this year. Instead, we chose to give back to the community,” Mpala explained.

“We wanted to ensure that this season of giving reaches those who face daily struggles, and we felt this was a meaningful way to spread the festive spirit.”

Mpala emphasized that corporate social responsibility is central to the company’s values.

“We understand the challenges people with albinism face—social stigma, health issues, and limited resources,” she continued.

“Our staff was united in the belief that our efforts should go beyond just business, and we are proud to partner with Alcoz to provide support that makes a real difference in their lives this festive season.”

The donation of groceries and personal care products was warmly received by Loveness Mainato, Executive Director of Alcoz, who expressed deep appreciation for the generous gesture.

Mainato pointed out that such contributions are not just about material support but also about offering recognition and hope to a community often overlooked.

“This donation is a ray of light for us this Christmas,” Mainato said.

“For people with albinism, daily life can be challenging, not just because of health risks like skin cancer but also due to the societal stigma they face. The groceries and personal care items will make a significant difference in their lives and bring some comfort during the festive season.”

Mainato emphasized the importance of such partnerships in fostering inclusion. She called on other businesses and individuals to follow Premier Corporate Gifts’ lead in giving back to marginalized communities.

“The gesture from Premier Corporate Gifts is a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we come together,” she said.

“This donation shows the albinism community that they are seen, valued, and supported. It’s an example of how collaboration can create a more inclusive and compassionate society.”

For the albinism community in Chitungwiza, the early Christmas gifts from Premier Corporate Gifts not only offer material relief but also carry a message of care, inclusion, and hope for the future.
