Frank Warren To Promote Back To Back Shows On BT Sport; March 26 And 27

Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions will put on three magnificent, well-matched domestic fights all for the British and Commonwealth titles at their respective weights over the course of March 26 and 27. The Domestic Championship Triple Header will be televised live on BT Sport from 7:30 pm and will take place at the Copper Box Arena, London with no fans in attendance.

The Three fights will include the rescheduled super-middleweight showdown between Willy Hutchinson and Lennox Clarke, a voluntary Welterweight title Defence by Chris Jenkins against New Queensberry signing Ekow Essuman and a 140-pound title fight of unbeaten fighters between slick boxer Akeem Ennis-Brown and the sometimes vulnerable but powerful Sam Maxwell.

Akeem Ennis-Brown vs Sam Maxwell: March 26 Headliner

On the March 26 Frank Warren Main Event, Undefeated British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight champion Akeem Ennis Brown (14-0) makes the first defence of his belts against fellow undefeated fighter and Frank Warren Promoted Contender Sam Maxwell also (14-0).

Maxwell has looked very ‘green’ and vulnerable in some of his fights particularly when he was floored twice against Sabir Sediri in 2019 but has nevertheless been dynamic, intriguing and likeable. He returned in the bubble against veteran Joe Hughes (17-5) and captured another 10 valuable learning rounds.

Brown fought on an MTK Show to win the Commonwealth Title off Phillip Bowes (20-3) and claim the vacant British strap. Brown is a slick, conservative boxer who doesn’t tend to give too much away. With only the one knockout he is not the most exciting fighter but is very effective and is a very awkward style to face which has made him undesirable to domestic opposition.

British and Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Champion Brad Foster (13-0) takes on Spain’s Alvaro Rodriguez (10-3) for the IBF International Title as chief Support. Foster is ranked #10 with the IBF and aims to push himself up the rankings with a relatively simple victory on March 26.

Also On the Akeem Ennis Brown vs Sam Maxwell card, Danny Ball (9-0) battles fellow undefeated Brit Sam Gilley (11-0) for the WBC International Silver Welterweight title. Additionally, we see the return of exciting, talented prospects Dennis McCann (8-0) and David Adeleye (4-0). McCann takes on Mexico’s Luis Moreno (9-1).

Willy Hutchinson vs Lennox Clarke: Make Or Break for Willy Hutchinson

Talented, undefeated Scottish Prospect Willy Hutchinson (13-0), takes the first big test of his career against (19-1-1) Lennox Clarke for the vacant British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight titles as the headliner on this fantastic Domestic card.

Clarke lost for these belts by split-decision in his latest contest in November 2019 against Lerrone ‘the sniper’ Richards. Richards recently signed with Matchroom and has vacated his belts; leaving them vacant for Hutchinson and Clarke to contest.

Hutchinson boxed twice in the bubble producing 2 first-round TKO’s against overmatched opponents and now clearly needs tougher opposition. The 22-year old Youth World champion made his professional debut on his 19th birthday in 2017 and has slowly progressed through the ranks under the promotional guidance of Frank Warren.

Warren now believes that Hutchinson is ready to be let off the leash and will put him in the ‘big fights’ in the future. Jack Cullen upset undefeated prospect, John Docherty, on the Katie Taylor-led world title tripleheader on November 14 in a 168-pound British Title eliminator and could go on to be mandatory for the winner of Hutchinson-Clarke later this year.

Chris Jenkins vs Ekow Essuman: The Coming-Out Party for the Next British Welterweight Star?

Chris Jenkins was hoping to land a fight with rising Welterweight star Conor Benn at the end of last year but due to promotional conflicts Jenkins-Benn was unable to happen and Benn gave up his mandatory position. Jenkins (22-3-3) now defends his titles instead against another talented young British prospect in undefeated Welterweight and New Frank Warren signing Ekow Essuman (14-0).

Essuman came up on the small hall scene where he captured the English title by beating Curtis Felix Jnr (10-0) and impressed the British boxing scene. This landed him a promotional contract with Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions. He made his Frank Warren and Television debut on BT Sport behind closed doors in September comfortably outpointing France’s Cedrick Peynard (8-7) who floored rival Conor Benn twice in their first fight.

Essuman now takes a huge step-up in levels against the proven domestic champion and vastly experienced Chris Jenkins. Essuman is viewed as an exciting, rising prospect and plans to push himself into the stacked domestic mix involving the likes of Conor Benn and Josh Kelly but is Chris Jenkins a step too-far too early?

On the Hutchinson Clarke March 27 Frank Warren Show, Hard-Punching Featherweight Louis Lynn (8-0, 7 KO) takes a big step-up in opposition against Spain’s Sebastian Perez (12-1) for the WBC International Silver Featherweight Title. Heavyweight Nathan Gorman (17-1) hopes to impress against German-Croatian Kristijan Krstacic (18-2).

Skilled prospects Mark Chamberlain (7-0) and Eithan James (4-0) return on the card against unknown opponents. Cruiserweight Stephen Adentan and Super-Bantamweight Umar Khan make their professional debuts.
