Spice Shares WCW Throwback Photo With Mya At Reggae Sumfest – DancehallMag

[adrotate group="8"]

It’s #WomenCrushWednesday y’all! Not one to conform with rules though, Dancehall artist Spice shared an awing ‘throwback’ photo of herself with American R&B songbird Mya today on Instagram, a day too early for #ThrowbackThursday, looks like the So Mi Like It deejay just did what she wanted and merged both in one.

The throwback share was certainly something to see, Spice took it all the way back to Reggae Sumfest 2011 in a photo capturing her and Mya’s performance on stage. In one of her most elaborate costumes ever, Spice was wearing what she called her ‘Marge Simpson wig’, a massive blue Afro puff hairpiece along with a mirrored-glass bedazzled leotard and matching fingerless arm sleeves, courtesy of the late fashion designer, Dexter Pottinger.

She captioned the post: Throwing it back to about 10 years ago performing with @myaplanet9 @reggaesumfest in my Marge simpson wig and my outfit made of broken glass design by @dexter3dp #RIP I don’t follow i set trends, leave me alone I’m unique

In the spring of 2011, Spice collaborated with Mya on her new record, Take Him Out from her sixth studio album, K.I.S.S. (Keep It Sexy & Simple).

Before the official release Mya appeared on stage with Spice to premiere the single to one of the toughest Jamaican audience there is – Reggae Sumfest. The crowd, however, gobbled up every single bit of their performance and more. Mya also stole the show performing with Dancehall titan Beenie Man later in the night on their smash hit single Girls Dem Sugar.

Spice and Mya went on to shoot the music video for Take Him Out a year later in Kingston, Jamaica by producer Rebecca Packer and director Ras Kassa. Mya’s K.I.S.S. album also featured fellow Jamaican Dancehall acts Beenie Man on the single, Mess Up My Hair and Sean Paul with Rear View Mirror.

The R&B sensation has also had some pretty recent collabs with other Jamaican musicians, namely Jah Cure (Only You, 2019) and Ding Dong (Handsfree, 2019).
