Chelsea pushing for ÂŁ53m Ugarte deal
In case you missed it earlier, Chelsea are reportedly pushing to sign Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguayan midfielder, also linked with Aston Villa among many other clubs, had been expected to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer with a departure from Sporting Lisbon after two seasons seen as inevitable.
However, widespread reports today claim that Chelsea are now in talks over a deal after getting the go-ahead from new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Jorge Mendes is representing Ugarte, who has a buy-out clause in his Sporting contract worth ÂŁ53m.
The 22-year-old is already well-known to Arsenal fans, having been sent off for a foul on Bukayo Saka in their Europa League last-16 win at the Emirates back in March.
Matheus Franca to Arsenal latest
Arsenal have yet to table an official offer for Matheus Franca.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for Flamengoâs teenage midfielder as sporting director and compatriot Edu plans for the future in north London.
But Fabrizio Romano now says that while Arsenal are monitoring the 19-year-old as one of several young stars in Brazil, there are no bids or talks at this stage.
There could be as many as four other clubs reportedly in the race for Franca, with Newcastle having seen an offer snubbed in January.
PSG make surprise enquiry for Martin Odegaard
Arsenal will reject any advances from Paris Saint-Germain towards Martin Odegaard.
The Mail say Les Parisiens sounded out a deal for the Gunners captain after his fantastic year leading the team to a Premier League title challenge.
But Arsenal are not interested in a sale with PSG also set to lose out on Manuel Ugarte to Chelsea.
Chelsea target speaks out on future
Andre Onana has said heâs happy at Inter despite rumours of interest from Chelsea.
A new goalkeeper could be on Mauricio Pochettinoâs wish list after his appointment was today confirmed.
But Onana told Rai Sport: âWe are a great team, with strong players. For me, playing with them is an honour.
âI am very happy. The group is the most important thing of all.â
Arsenal boost in Joao Cancelo pursuit
Bayern Munich will let Joao Cancelo return to Manchester City.
Despite having a ÂŁ70m purchase option on the full-back, he will not remain in Munich next season according to Fabrizio Romano.
Thomas Tuchel had previously spoken favourably of Cancelo, who has already been linked with a move to Arsenal as his City career looks over.
âI have the impression that he feels very comfortable here,â said Tuchel recently. âBut in the end all parties are part of the decision. His desire in training is unique. I have the feeling that he is really happy here.â
Harry Kane set to stay put
Manchester United are readying a bid to sign Harry Kane but the Mirror report on the striker staying put this summer.
Out of contract in 2024, Kane is yet to agitate for a move and Tottenham are intent on signing him up to an extension.
Foreign admirers such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are reportedly considering holding off on a bid to take advantage of his potential free-agent status.
Crystal Palace eye Lewis Hall
Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall has impressed in the first-team in recent weeks yet could depart this summer.
Crystal Palace have been named by the Daily Mail as looking to sign the teenager on loan.
Conor Gallagher excelled in his stint at Selhurst Park two seasons ago, which Palace hope will help them make the case to be entrusted with Hall.
But the final call will come from new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Declan Rice wants London stay
Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a major boost in the race for Declan Rice.
Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also thought to want the West Ham midfielder, who is rated at ÂŁ120m.
According to Football Insider, Rice wants to stay in English football and ideally the capital.
Talks over his future are set to begin after the Europa Conference League final but itâs reported that his representatives are already laying the groundwork for a mega summer transfer.
Chelsea ‘only need two signingsâ
Ian Wright has told Chelsea that they donât need to invest much more in the transfer market after appointing Mauricio Pochettino.
âI donât think Pochettino needs to do much this summer because of the calibre of coach he is and how good he is with young players and how he can organise a team,â Wright told BBCâs Match of the Day.
âIf you look at what Chelsea have got, probably sign a goalkeeper this summer, definitely a number nine â but when you look at what theyâve got in the squad, theyâve got enough pieces.
âHe needs to cut the squad down a bit and bring in some quality. Theyâve already got quality but bring in a bit more. Chelsea fans should be excited about Pochettino because he will sort this out.â
Another nod towards Granit Xhakaâs exit
Ahead of a likely move to Bayer Leverkusen, Granit Xhaka has shared a Puma graphic to his Instagram story – captioned âtwo goals for a goodbyeâ.
It really does seem like only a matter of time before his departure from Arsenal is announced.
