Underwhelming Card For Blockbuster PPV Showdown

Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing last week finalised the Povetkin vs Whyte 2 Undercard on March 27. The seven-fight Pay-Per-View card available on Sky Sports Box Office and DAZN is set to feature a much anticipated domestic clash at a 154 pounds for the Vacant British title, a special welterweight attraction featuring two undefeated British prospects, the debut of Campbell Hatton and 2 Heavyweight clashes.

Cheeseman vs Metcalf: British Super Welterweight Title

Cheeseman Vs Metcalf British Super Welterweight Title; Povetkin Vs Whyte 2 Undercard

Former British Champion and European Title Challenger Ted Cheeseman (16-2-1) takes on undefeated Commonwealth champion James Metcalf (21-0) in a bid to become a two-time British Champion. Cheeseman Metcalf was ordered by the BBBofC last year and eventually taken to purse bids where Matchroom produced the winning bid.

Cheeseman had a terrible 2019 with him facing financial problems over his gambling addiction and suffering two defeats and a draw in a winless year. Cheeseman was very unlucky to not win a draw with Kieron Conway and suffer a loss to Scott Fitzgerald to lose his Lonsdale Belt. However, in 2020 Cheeseman impressed with a close-decision victory over Sam Eggington in the main event of Week 1 of Fight Camp in a FOTY contender.

Metcalf has had a straightforward career so far and only had a few competitive bouts since his debut in 2011. He was supposed to defend his strap against Jack Flatley in October but the fight was cancelled which means he hasn’t boxed in over a year, but inactivity is nothing new to the Liverpool fighter. Cheeseman-Metcalf is an evenly matched Domestic title Fight and the winner will be eyeing a big fight with Anthony Fowler/Scott Fitzgerald later in 2021 that could progress them beyond British Title-level.

Wardley vs Molina: 10-rounds of Heavyweight Action

Fabio Wardley Set To Face Eric Molina On Povetkin Vs Whyte 2 Undercard

Also part of Team Whyte, Wardley has been a significant feature post the pandemic. His first appearance was on Week 1 of Fight Camp where he claimed the English Heavyweight Strap against Simon Vallily. Wardley then returned 3 months later, making quick work of Richard Lartey. Wardley now steps up the levels again against former title challenger Eric Molina.

This is a must-win for Fabio Wardley, and furthermore, he must win impressively as Molina has been made quick work of before by the likes of Arreola, Joshua and Hrgovic. A win here for Wardley would set up a crack at the Commonwealth or British titles which might become vacant due to Joyce progressing to world level. Nathan Gorman won a commonwealth title eliminator in October and could be an opponent.

Khoumari vs Baker: Prospect to be Exposed?

Dillian Whyte Managed Youssef Khoumari Gets Big Opportunity On Povetkin Vs Whyte 2 Undercard.

Kane Baker got an incredible opportunity to test unbeaten prospect Aqib Fiaz on the Buatsi-Callic Undercard, despite losing on that occasion he put up a good account; which was sufficient to see him return just two weeks later and upset undefeated Tony Bellew Managed Meshech Speare. He now gets a PPV Undercard opportunity and the chance to upset another undefeated prospect over 8 rounds.

Khoumari signed with Dillian Whyte after drawing with Liam Dillon (9-0) for the English Super Featherweight title. He has yet to fight under Whyte due to the pandemic but has been part of the team and consistently training in Portugal. This is a big chance for Khoumari to build his name as he is also an unknown quantity and needs to prove himself as a serious contender.

Kongo vs McKinson: Collision Of Unbeaten Records

Kongo Mckinson Undefeated Welterweights Collide On The Povetkin Vs Whyte 2 Undercard

British Welterweights Chris Kongo (12-0) and Michael McKinson (19-0) risk their unbeaten records on March 27 when they take on each other for the WBO Global Title and top 5 position in the WBO Rankings. This is an exciting clash of prospects that we don’t often see due to them both being able to go on different and easier paths.

However, due to the vast pool of talent in the 147-Pound Division both domestically and on the global scene McKinson and Kongo have struggled to land the big fights and so they have decided to fight each other. McKinson Kongo is a 50/50 domestic clash and terrific addition to this PPV Povetkin vs Whyte 2 Undercard.

Hatton vs Ruiz: The Professional Debut of Campbell Hatton

Campbell Hatton Debuts On Povetkin Vs Whyte 2 Undercard

Campbell Hatton debuts on the Povetkin vs Whyte 2 Undercard. Hatton will have huge boots to fill as people will be comparing him to his father from the first punch, but he will get the perfect platform to impress. On a stage like this and with the hype around him we expect to see a lot from Campbell Hatton in his maiden professional contest.

Pfeifer vs Webb: Winner Stays ON

Late 10-Round Heavyweight Addition To Povetkin Vs Whyte 2 Undercard

Dillian Whyte Sparring Partner Erik Pfiefer is the sixth and final edition to the Povetkin vs Whyte 2 Undercard. German-Russian Pfeifer is a two-time Olympian and has medaled at two separate world championships. A phenomenal amateur beating the likes of Joe Joyce, Tony Yoka and Otto Wallin; he turned professional in 2018 and is now undefeated at 7-0.

He is the WBO European Champion but is best known for being the opponent for Daniel Dubois in August before that fight was scrapped. Pfeifer has now been signed with Whyte and takes on a tough test in Ultimate Boxer winner Nick Webb (16-2). Webb was touted as a prospect until shock stoppage losses to Dave Allen and Kamil Sokolowski halted his progression.
