Sianchali calls for immediate return of local football

Dynamos’ latest signing Newman Sianchali says his wish is to see the immediate return of football activities in the country as he hopes for a fruitful career in blue and white colours.

By Tongai Mwenje

Sianchali who turns 34 this year was officially announced Dynamos player on Wednesday after leaving Caps United.

Speaking to SportBrief after his move to the Glamour Boys family, the nomadic player who once played for Highlanders, Bulawayo City, Bantu Rovers and Hwange said:

” (I just wanted) a new challenge and new beginning (following the suspension of football activities in the country in 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19) Covid has killed everything. Wishing to resume football soon so that we enjoy the beautiful game. To be at Dembare it’s a challenge (and) hopefully I will have a fruitful stay,” he said.

The country has not yet experienced competitive local football activities since March 2020 when FC Platinum beat Highlanders 2:0 at Barbourfields to return the Castle Challenge Cup silverware.

Since then, the local authorities have failed to organise the premier league competition games even after proposing something that has become known colloquially as a “bubble” concept.

The suspension on football and other sports related activities was induced by the outbreak of novel coronavirus aka COVID-19.

The lanky forward cleared would be rumours over his move.

“My contract expired last year and Caps United delayed to negotiate my stay, (maybe) because of (issues to do with the effects of the) pandemic disease. I don’t have any regrets (of joining a rival). I’m ready for the new challenge, remember I’ve played for Highlanders ( another big club) before, so Dembare as one of the ( local football) giants I am looking forward for the best.”

Meanwhile, Dynamos have signed Trevor Mavhunga, Frank Makarati, Tinashe Makanda and Luke Musukiri.
