Arsenal target opens up on ‘delicate’ future
Arsenal target Timothy Castagne has spoken out on the summer ahead.
The Leicester defender could replace Kieran Tierney at the Emirates Stadium, with the Scot a target for Newcastle. And Castagne has described his situation as “delicate”.
“I’ll see what happens in the future,” he said. “A decision will be made.
“It’s delicate, of course.
“You could wait for a top club to arrive, but what if it doesn’t come? I’m not thinking about that yet.”
Big players released by Premier League clubs
We have some big names on the list of players released by Premier League clubs, which has today been released.
The man who lifted the trophy only a couple of weeks ago, Ilkay Gundogan, is on it for Manchester City as well as Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Neither are guaranteed to be leaving though, with it still possible they extend their deals that are expiring at the end of the moth.
The big name among Arsenal’s departees is Ainsley Maitland-Niles, with the Gunners in talks with Reiss Nelson over a new contract.
Jesse Lingard, Luka Milivojevic, Yerry Mina, Jonny Evans, Ryan Bertrand, Youri Tielemans, Phil Jones, Theo Walcott, Andre Ayew, Lucas Moura and Manuel Lanzini are some of the other well-known faces on the list.
That lot would have made a pretty decent team on FIFA 15!
Chelsea retained list revealed
Tiemoue Bakayoko is the only senior player departing Chelsea when this season’s contracts expire.
The club’s retained and released list is out with the French midfielder joined by Rangers signing Dujon Sterling in heading for pastures news.
Derrick Abu, Prince Adegoke, Nathan Baxter, Juan Familia-Castillo, Byran Fiabema, Joe Haigh, Henry Lawrence, Sam McClelland, Amari Thomas Silko, Ethan Wady and Jayden Wareham have also been released.
Man United prepare final Mount offer
Manchester United will make an improved bid of £50million for Mason Mount, but will not go beyond that.
The Chelsea midfielder is entering the final year of his contract and as Standard Sport reported earlier, has no desire to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge. That raises the prospect of him leaving for free next summer.
That looks the most likely option should Chelsea, who want £70m, reject the next offer, with the Mirror reporting that United will likely move on if they don’t secure Mount with this bid.
Smalling extends Roma deal
Chris Smalling has signed a new two-year deal at Roma.
The former Manchester United defender was set to be a free agent this summer, with his existing deal expiring at the end of the month, but he has now committed his future to the club.
“I’m playing the best football of my career here and my family and I have felt so welcome in this wonderful city from day one,” Smalling told Roma’s official website.
Palace keep defensive duo
Nathaniel Clyne and James Tomkins have extended their contracts at Crystal Palace.
Both players were set to leave on free agents with their contracts due to expire at the end of the month but have now pledged their futures to Palace.
Last week the club announced that Joel Ward would also be extending his stay at Palace, having spent more than a decade at the club.
Chairman Steve Parish reflected: “Nathaniel and James are highly valued squad members based on their consistent and reliable contributions for the club over many seasons, and these extensions ensure we continue to have a balanced squad.
Arsenal interested in Lavia
Arsenal are hoping to bring Romeo Lavia to the Emirates this summer.
A move for Declan Rice remains the priority and the Gunners are preparing a second bid, with the West Ham captain keen on joining Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Independent report that it is now Southampton’s Lavia who is their second midfield target, with the 19-year-old seen as a more realistic option than Moises Caicedo.
Russo closing in on Arsenal move
England striker Alessia Russo is nearing a move to Arsenal this summer following confirmation she will leave Manchester United upon the expiry of her contract.
Arsenal have long been admirers of the European champion, and had two world-record bids turned down by United in January, and the second of those was worth nearly £500,000.
Arsenal are the favourites to sign Russo and are believed to be in talks to sign her.
United had been negotiating a new deal with Russo for 18 months, but the player grew frustrated when she deemed the salary offer arrived after she had set her sights on leaving.
Barcelona keen on Lo Celso move
Giovani Lo Celso is target for Barcelona this summer.
The Tottenham midfielder has spent the last two seasons on loan at Villarreal, and Sky Sports report that he could swiftly secure another move to Spain.
Xavi is a big fan and want to bring Lo Celso to the Nou Camp, with talks between the two clubs potentially also involving discussions over Clement Lenglet. The Frenchman spent the season on loan at Spurs and could make an immediate return to the club.
Man United turn to Osimhen
Manchester United are expected to step up their interest in Victor Osimhen.
Erik ten Hag had hoped to bring Harry Kane to Old Trafford this summer, but Tottenham remain reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival and the England captain is increasingly likely to remain in north London.
The Mirror report that United will now turn to Napoli striker Osimhen, who is valued at around £80million.
