CEO Africa Roundtable to launch business confidence index report

The CEO Africa Roundtable will host a banquet in the capital, Harare next month to officially launch its business confidence index report.
CEO Africa Roundtable Head of Economics Tatenda Nyachega confirmed the development in an interview with Business Times, stating that it intends to collect viewpoints and ideas from a variety of players, with a primary focus on CEOs and senior executives across all economic sectors.
The CEO Africa Roundtable will also present the best CEO and Lifetime achievement awards.
The organisation is currently conducting a sector wide survey that includes critical business metrics.
According to him, the business confidence index report will provide an analysis of CEOs’ and senior executives’ expectations, views, and insights regarding the state of the economy as a whole from one quarter to the next.
The views of CEOs from a range of sectors, including both public and private ones, will be taken into consideration.
“The annual banquet on December 8, 2023, is like our close of the year event. And this event, this time around is programmed around two key aspects-the launch of the inaugural business confidence index report and the awards,” Nyachega told Business Times.
He added: “This is a report which is being developed or established from a survey that we are going to be conducting on quarterly basis.
The survey seeks to get insights and opinions of various players mainly focusing on CEOs and senior executives across the sectors of the economy. And by this we are looking at both the private and public CEOs which span across the various sectors.
“It (business confidence index report) gives mainly the expectations of these CEOs. It checks the business confidence , the expectations of the CEOs with regards to the overall economy, how they view the overall economy from one quarter to another, among other things.
So, the questions are designed in a way that they captures the insights and the opinions of these CEOs with regards to their own businesses, with regards to their sectors. Subsequently, concerning the economy’s overall performance.”
Nyachega stated that the CEO Africa Roundtable will also honor lifetime achievers and the top-performing CEO in addition to launching the Business Confidence Index report.
“Then, outside the business confidence index report, we also have awards. These awards that we are going to be giving are categorised into two. The first one is the CEO of the Year Award. By the CEO of the Year Award , this looks on the best performing CEO amongst our members in terms of financials, sales, profitability as well as innovativeness. Remember we are in a digital economy, so, we are looking at all those aspects to see who have been the most successful and innovative CEO amongst the CEO Africa Roundtable members as reflected by sales, by production and all those other key components which can speak to the issues of performance.
“Then, we also have what we call Lifetime Achievers. This award is given to retirees or posthumous. We are honouring the CEO Africa Roundtable members who might have passed away, or retired. So, we just check amongst our members. We are honouring them for being group of CEOs that have been meant to champion economic development across the African continent.”
