US Open 2023: Full UK tee times and first-round groups with Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm in action
he world’s best descend on Los Angeles Country Club for the US Open this week, with matters off the course likely to attract as much as attention as the golf on.
It is just the third time this year that those on the PGA Tour come up against their LIV Golf counterparts, and the first since the news broke of a shock merger between the previously warring factions.
What that means in practice for the sport remains to be seen, but it will be a key topic of conversation throughout the week and one that will dominate the pre-tournament press conferences.
On the course, Matt Fitzpatrick arrives as defending champion after his win at Brookline a year ago, while Brooks Koepka, a two-time US Open champion, looks set for another strong week after his return to major-winning form at the PGA Championship last month.
Of the other big names who will consider themselves among the favourite, Scottie Scheffler remains world number one but continues to a battle an ice-cold putter, Rory McIlroy looks to return to form after a below-par couple of months, and Jon Rahm goes in search of his second major of the year after his Masters triumph in April.
