Full ‘arsenal’ for anti-sanctions war

Own Correspondent

The government has come up with a packed programme as part of anti-sanctions protests on Wednesday with civil servants joining countrywide marches to raise their displeasure over the measures imposed on Zimbabwe by the West.

Zimbabwe has been choking from the sanctions described by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on negative impacts Alena Douhan, as causing “untold suffering” to the people.

October 25 each year has been set aside to call for the removal of sanctions with SADC and the rest of the world adding their voices.

Information Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere said Zimbabweans should join the anti-sanctions march to be held in several parts of the country.

“We are inviting all Zimbabweans, all civil servants and all parastatals to join the anti-sanctions march in Harare,” he said adding Zimbabweans will assemble at Munhumutapa Building, between fourth Street and Sam Nujoma Street, along Samora Machel Avenue to march along Samora Machel Avenue towards Julius Nyerere Way all the way to the Africa Unity Square.

An anti-sanctions summit will also be held in Mutoko at Gohori Resort where the second edition of the SADC Anti-Sanction solidarity summit will be hosted.

In Dotito, people will also gather  for an Anti-Sanctions gala which will see a cocktail of artists entertaining the people in commemoration of the anti-sanctions day.

Zimbabwe was placed on sanctions by the United States and her allies in the turn of the millennium following a land reform programme.
