Newcastle NOT closing in on Barella
Newcastle United’s bid to sign Nicolo Barella appears not as close as first reported.
The Telegraph sensationally claimed last night that the Saudi-backed club are closing in on a £50million deal to sign the Champions League finalist from Inter Milan.
Well, reports in Italy are less positive. According to multiple outlets, there has been no bid or even any contact from Newcastle to Inter, the player has not agreed personal terms and £50m is nowhere near an acceptable price.
So 0/3, then.
Man United end Kane pursuit
Strikers are all the rage this morning as Manchester United have ended their interest in Harry Kane.
According to multiple reports, the club have given up on signing Erik ten Hag’s no1 summer target as Tottenham are simply not entertaining transfer talks.
United do not want to get into a summer-long saga and will now move onto other targets.
At least they realised now and not in late August. Someone have learnt their lesson from Frenkie de Jong.
Arsenal working on Havertz deal
The most remarkable transfer story from Wednesday was Arsenal’s interest in Kai Havertz.
Standard Sport understands the interest is very real and the Gunners are in talks over a move for the Chelsea forward.
An asking price of £75million has been placed on Havertz’s head, and Arsenal are willing to go as high as £60m for him.
The Athletic report that a bid has gone it, to test the waters. One to watch!
Chelsea have Vlahovic plan
Talking of Chelsea transfer targets, Juventus have told the Blues to cough up want at least €80m euros (£68m) to sign Dusan Vlahovic.
Chelsea, though, have other ideas according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
They would rather the Italians pick a player to use in a swap deal and have offered five in part-exchange for the striker.
Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah, Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly are all available to Juventus.
ICYMI: Chelsea hold talks over Jackson move
Chelsea have stepped up their search for a new striker and held talks over a move for Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The Blues want to bolster their frontline for new head coach Mauricio Pochettino and have identified 21-year-old Senegal international Jackson as a summer target.
Jackson finished the season in blistering form for Villarreal, scoring nine goals in eight La Liga matches to catch the attention of clubs around Europe.
Chelsea met his representatives last week to discuss a potential move. He is set to be available for around £30million this summer, making him a cheaper alternative to £100m-rated Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
